Being a Published Author is the Best Kept Secret

There are a few statistics out there about writing a book.  One that I came across quite a while ago was that 80% of people want to write a book, but only 3% actually write the book.  I saw another stat that said less than 1% publish the book after it’s been written.  What gives?  Why don’t people finish (or often even start) their books?

The Real Reason It’s Hard to be a Published Author

The big reason is that people don’t know what they don’t know.  The actual writing of the book, you know sitting down and pounding out thousands of words on a keyboard, is tedious.  But it really isn’t that hard.

What is hard, however, is the rest of the work surrounding book writing.  Long before you even start typing anything, you have to do a bunch of planning.  Figure out your topic, your angle, your audience, how to talk to them, and more.

Even after the book is written, too many authors skip one of the most important steps – they don’t hire a professional editor or book designer.  The end result is a whole lot of, “Meh.”  And that’s why I’m here. I’m here to prevent the meh.
