Ghostwriter Scott Sery encourages you to find your unique writing voice

Your Unique Writing Voice Brings People Back

In a world that’s riddled with AI, it’s more important than ever to be authentic.  Humans crave human interaction, but the internet has become bloated with robot generated junk.  So, how do you stand out?  How do you ensure that even though you’re writing every word (not relying on AI) you still come across as human?  It’s by leaning into your unique writing voice.  As a ghostwriter, my job is to help you pull that out, and when I write for clients, I hear what they say and I mimic how they write.

Write Like You Talk

Do you remember your high school English class?  You were instructed on how to write academically; stiff, boring, and you shouldn’t use the word “you” in your writing.  As you build up your unique writing voice, and discover who you truly are, take all of those lessons you’ve learned, wad them up into a little ball, and throw them out the window.

Your voice carries from talk to text (and the other way ‘round, too).  People who read your work should sit back and think, “It’s as though he or she was right there reading it to me.”  Lean into your unique way of talking, and write that way too.

Stop Imitating Other Writers

You can get inspiration and ideas from other writers.  You can even mimic some of their voice if it’s a method of delivery you’d like to be known for.  Personally, I love the works of JD Salinger – he has an incredible unique method of writing.  Those who know him can instantly spot his writing even if they aren’t given any other clues that he was the author.

Don’t go around trying to be that other sonuvabitch writer.  Use a bit of their language, swipe a trick or two – hell, we all do it – but tweak it to be your own.  That unique writing voice, when properly developed, will have people identifying your work before they even see your damn name.

Say What AI Can’t Say

AI can regurgitate facts all day long.  It also loves to twist them, misrepresent them, and rephrase them in a way that really sucks.  Only you, however, can bring perspective.  Only you can tap into your experiences, your emotions, and draw conclusions based on your experiences.

As you write, find that weird way that your brain connects the dots.  Relay unique ideas with your own unique voice.  Because in a world filled with AI, the human is going to stand out.

Be Weird

Speaking of weird, lean into that weirdness.  Find those obsessions, your hot takes.  Deliver your message dripping with sarcasm, metaphors, and rants about what really grinds your gears.  Throw back a couple of drinks and then see how your language changes when you’re ranting to a friend about your passions.  Hear the inflections, and what bubbles up from your very core.

We’re all a bunch of lunatics.  And that’s what makes us awesome.  Don’t dumb yourself down because you think people can’t handle you; instead, smart yourself up and be that delightful weirdo you really want to be.  Yes, I truly believe smart yourself up is the opposite of dumb yourself down.

Quit People Pleasing

And that’s because we need to stop trying to appeal to the masses.  Think of your favorite musician – are they leaning into what they love and creating music that resonates within them?  Or are they sitting there thinking, “Hmm, I wonder what song I can make that’s going to appeal to literally everyone?”

Want to know the secret about people pleasing?  It’s a deep-seated bit of insecurity.  Be loud, dare to disagree, and use that strong voice you have within you.  It’s going to require you take a bit of a risk, but you’ll have to be comfortable turning some people off while resonating with others.

Hire a Ghostwriter to Capture Your True Voice

The bulk of the people I help write could do it on their own.  We can always find time in our day, we can always spill the content out, and just about any of us could put together a book (it might take longer for you if you’re not a professional writer).

But really, they hire a ghostwriter to capture their voice.  They have someone else hear those inflections, find that weirdness, and drop some unique writing voice bombs through the compelling stories they have to tell.

Is that you?

Let’s talk about your book, and let’s see how to deliver hardcore value to your audience.  Schedule time with me via my calendar, below, and we’ll make a plan to get your book finished.
